Please read these Terms of Service (‘Terms’, ‘Terms of Service’) carefully before using the STC Toronto Jobs website (the ‘Service’) operated by the Toronto Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (‘STC Toronto’, ‘us’, ‘we’, or ‘our’). Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

By using the Service to post jobs or resumes, or to view and search jobs and resumes, or when purchasing a subscription to use the Service, you agree to these terms and conditions:

  • STC Toronto Jobs is a job-hunting tool only.
  • Jobs posted on STC Toronto Jobs are those that many, but not all, individuals in the technical communication field will find applicable.
  • STC Toronto does not guarantee that subscribers will find a job using the Service.
  • STC Toronto does not guarantee that employers will find a candidate using the Service.
  • Employers promise and agree that any listings posted in the Service are for real, bona fide, current job needs for themselves or for a client they represent.
  • Employers promise and agree that they shall not post fake job listings for the purpose of collecting candidate names, resumes, email addresses, or other details, or for any other purpose.
  • Employers promise and agree that they shall not post job listings where any upfront fees are required of candidates applying for the job. Examples include application fees, training fees, equipment fees, and similar fees demanded in order to be considered for the job; this also applies in cases where the employer or the client they represent has not provided the candidate with a signed, legal contract commitment that the candidate has been awarded the job before asking for such fees.
  • Employers promise and agree that they shall not express discrimination of any kind, neither direct nor implied, in any of their postings or communications with any other parties using the Service.
  • Job seekers guarantee that the information they post in their online resume in the Service represents true, accurate descriptions of their qualifications, certifications, and experiences.
  • STC Toronto neither guarantees nor warrants that the information provided by job seekers or employers is accurate or correct; any party who seeks to verify any information posted on the Service must verify the information directly with the party who posted the information in the Service.
  • Job seekers and employers promise to use respectful, professional, non-discriminatory language in their postings and communications with other parties with whom they interact through the service. Discriminatory or hateful language in postings or communications will not be tolerated.
  • If STC Toronto receives a complaint about discriminatory or hateful language used anywhere in the Service, STC Toronto shall refer to the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code and other applicable codes in Canada and the Province of Ontario as the legal standards and basis for assessing the complaint, regardless of the jurisdiction where the complainant, the defendant, or the job are located.
  • STC Toronto is not responsible for, and shall not be held liable for, errors or misrepresentations, whether accidental or deliberate, appearing in any content, or in any communication made between parties through the Service.
  • STC Toronto is not responsible for, and shall not be held liable for disputes, disagreements, or any similar matters, arising between parties using the Service.
  • STC Toronto does not guarantee that there will always be jobs posted in the job bank, as the presence and availability of listings depends on employer participation.
  • STC Toronto reserves the right to remove any job listing or resume posted by any user at any time and for any reason.
  • STC Toronto reserves the right to remove and block any employer, subscriber, or member from using the Service at any time and for any reason.
  • Subscriptions are charged according to the term chosen by the subscriber.
  • Subscriptions to the STC Toronto Job Bank are non-refundable.
  • Subscribers may, at any time during the term of the subscription, request that their subscription not be renewed.
  • Any attempts to tamper with, hack, or disrupt the Service will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
  • Any party who does not agree with these Terms should not use the Service.
  • Any party found violating these Terms may be removed from using the Service.
